Sarri: Newcastle send offer to former Chelsea tactician
Maurizio Sarri is ready for a new adventure and has received a tempting offer from Newcastle United as they look to beat West Ham to the punch.
The 65-year-old Italian coach unexpectedly ended a three-year spell with Lazio back in March, resigning after a shock defeat to relegation candidates Udinese. He showed a number of positives in the Italian capital but struggled seeing eye to eye with club president Claudio Lotito.
Out of work for less than two months, Sarri has already been linked with a number of clubs ahead of the summer, with possible options including Fiorentina, Torino, Milan and Napoli. He is expected to take on a new role prior to next season.
Newcastle offer to Sarri
TMW suggests that Newcastle’s Saudi owners recently sent an offer to Sarri to try and convince him to replace Eddie Howe in the summer, keen to beat out the interested West Ham and Torino.
The Italian coach, who knows the Premier League from his single season with Chelsea, is tempted by the offer and is attracted to the project in the Northeast.
