Calzona forced to abandon Napoli training session
Napoli had an unusual situation when a member of the group had to interrupt today’s training session early, as it was coach Francesco Calzona.
The Partenopei were hard at work preparing for their next Serie A match against Udinese, which is scheduled for Monday evening at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Piotr Zielinski and Pierluigi Gollini are expected to miss out on the trip due to injury and were therefore not training today either.
However, coach Calzona had to interrupt the session early and go home, as he was suffering from flu symptoms and a high fever.
The club medical advisors urged him to go and rest, especially considering the weather in Naples was anything but springlike today.
Calzona covering all bases
His staff are accustomed to taking training by themselves, seeing as during the break for international duty Calzona has to go back to his ‘day job’ as CT of the Slovakia national team.
The 55-year-old took the Napoli role on February 19 and has overseen three wins, six draws and three defeats in all competitions.
